Notes--one for each episode Episode 1: Polyneices the son of Oedipus had recently attempted to take over the city of Thebes, by coming in with his army and trying to take his brother out of rule by killing him. As it came to a conclusion both Polyneices and Eteocles were dead and Eteolces was seen as the city's hero and savior while Polyneices was seen as the villian and the one who tried to destroy the town.
Quote. Line-26-28." But as for Polyneices, Creon has ordered/That none shall bury him or mourn for him;/He must be left to lie unwept,unburied/For hungry birds of prey to swoop and feast." Comment: Your brother is a traitor to our city of Thebes and he deserves nothing better than what I have said in my decree. He tried to take over our city and burn down the buildings, but then your other brother stepped in his path and they both dueled it out till their deaths. For defending our city Eteocles will have his proper burial but for acting as a traitor and a villain Polyneice's body will rot.
Episode 2: Polyneices should be harshly punished for the deed he has done, due to him attempting to overthrow his brother and the city of Thebes. For his actions he will not receive the proper burial that his brother will have, and his body will be left vulnerable to the elements and for the birds and dogs to take care of.
Quote: Line-221. " Death is indeed the price, but love of gain/Has often lured a man to his destruction."
Episode 3: Polyneices's close sister Antigone has just recently attempted to bury her beloved brother's body, and my loyal guard had caught her and brought her to me because she has just ignored my decree and broken the law. When I was questioning Antigone she did not deny the fact that she had broken the law and that now her punishment was to be killed, yet for some thought in my mind even though she was not caught at the scene i figured that her sister Ismene had something to do with this, so she too should be killed along with Antigone.
Quote: Line-577. " It is not I, but Death, that stops this wedding.
Episode 4: While putting together the facts and deciding when Antigone and her sister shall be killed my own son Haemon fought the fact that his fiance(Antigone) had broken the law and that her punishment must be death, by saying that the whole town sees her act as an act of love and not a deed that deserves punishment. So while arguing with my son because he totally opposed what I believed what should be done, and Haemon told me that if she must die she shall not be alone. Also since he did not want to disrespect me, before he walked out on me he told me that he would call me mad if I was not his father.
Quote: Line-768-769." Then let his pride and folly do their worst!/ He shall not save these women from their doom." Episode 5: The blind prophet Tiresias comes to see Creon and tell him that the poeple of Thebes see Antigone's actions as those of love and not diffiance of the law. He is warning him that if he kills Antigone that there will not be any peice for him and the city. Creon thinks that Tiresias is just there to make money and he is not telling the truth, even though he has never lied or told a false statment. Creon later relizes that He should have lissioned and rushes away to buried Polynieces and goes to release Antigone. Epoilogue:On his way he sees his son who stabs himself and dies. With this news Creons wife Eurydice stabbed herself in the hart. Creon is very sad and distrat over what happened. Character's Name is a fan of: (name of band, author, actor, celebrity, etc.)
